Philanthropy
Philanthropy is a major part of Greek Life that is often overlooked. All Greek students are involved in charity and community service programs across campus and across the country. Annually, Greeks donate more than 500,000 hours of community-based service and donate more than $5 million dollars to support worthy causes. The Greek community does almost as much philanthropy as the rest of the university combined. Greek Week is the largest philanthropy event. Each individual chapter also has its own event that raises money for a specific cause. Chapter’s individual philanthropies often raise significant funds and awareness for a wide range of causes, including health care, poverty relief, justice, literacy, the environment and children’s advocacy.
