Sorority Phases and What to Wear

Spirit Day

Spirit Day will be a busy day of meeting new people for Potential New members and chapter members. The following pages are here for you to take notes about each chapter to help you remember your experience.

What to Wear: Casual and comfortable (keep in mind that IM West is not air conditioned!)

Philanthropy Day

Philanthropy Day allows potential new members to visit as many as nine chapter houses. This will allow you to become better acquainted with each of the chapters you visit. During this event potential new members will be able to learn about and participate in a small project that will benefit one of each chapter’s philanthropic goals.

What to Wear: Snappy casual; something you could wear to a nice dinner. Dress pants or a nice skirt are most appropriate, jeans are rarely worn.

Video Day

During Video Day, potential new members may visit as many as six chapter houses. At this time, each chapter will present a 5-10 minute video on what it means to be a member of that chapter. Each video is full of information, footage of events, and music for your enjoyment. You will also be given a tour of the house and a financial sheet detailing the costs of membership.

What to Wear: Snappy Casual; same attire as Philanthropy Day.

Preference

Preference is the most reflective and moving experience during the recruitment process. It will give you a chance to determine where you feel most at “home.” Members will share their ideals and values. Listen carefully to what members say when they explain why they chose their chapter.

What to Wear: Semi-formal; a dress or nice skirt and top are most appropriate.
