Recruitment Guides (Rho Gammas)

Rho Gammas are members of each of the 13 Panhellenic sorority chapters at MSU who volunteer to disaffiliate from their chapter during formal recruitment to help guide Potential New Members through the formal recruitment process.  By disaffiliating from their own chapter, these women are able to serve as unbiased mentors during the recruitment process.  During formal recruitment, Rho Gammas are assigned to work with small groups of Potential New Members.  Rho Gammas are prepared to assist Potential New Members during the recruitment process by providing recruitment schedules, answering questions, and serving as mentors.

The Formal Recruitment Selection Process

Formal recruitment is a held during a series of four phases.  During the first phase Potential New Members will visit all 13 chapters, but by the final phase they will visit a maximum of 3 chapters.  Formal recruitment is a process of mutual selection between the chapter and the Potential New Member.  After each phase of formal recruitment, the Potential New Member will meet with her Rho Gamma to systematically narrow down her list of possible chapters to join. At the same time, the chapters are choosing the group of Potential New Members that they would like to invite back for the next round of recruitment.  The choices of the Potential New Members and the chapters will be matched through a computerized matching program which will create the recruitment schedules for the next phase of formal recruitment.  After the final phase, Potential New Members will receive a bid card, which is an invitation to join, from one chapter.   After receiving a bid card, Potential New Members have the option to accept or decline the invitation.  Potential New Members can choose to withdraw from recruitment, at any time and for any reason, by contacting their Rho Gamma.
